Obituary for Michael E. Kingsland
Michael Eugene Wavrik Kingsland, 59, of Littleton, Colorado died at home surrounded by his family on December 17, 2015, after a long battle with Melanoma.
Michael is survived by his wife Elena of 37 years, daughter Jenae and her husband Sean Moore of Littleton, Colorado, son Michael Kingsland, Jr. and his partner Brian Border of San Francisco, California, mother Marlene Kingsland of Bayfield, Colorado, brother Charles (Cathy) Kingsland, Napa, California, sister Rhonda (Denver) Torres of Durango, Colorado, grandchildren Riah and Kaden Moore and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. Michael was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all.
He was preceded in death by his father Harold Kingsland.
Michael is a veteran of the gulf war, where he earned several medals. Michael enlisted into the Army in 1975 and served overseas in Germany as as MP. He retired from the Air Force with the rank of Master Sargent after serving 21+ years. In recent years Michael worked as a detention officer for the City of Aurora.
Michael was an avid history buff and enjoyed discussing WWII. He was also a die hard Rockies and 49ers fan. Michael loved watching old westerns, bowling with his team and playing chess with his grandson. He also traveled to many places with his wife. Some of his favorite locations were Hawaii and the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown New York.
A reception will follow from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Peak Wellness Center, 6612 South Ward Street, Colorado, Littleton, CO 80127.
