Obituary for Michele Rae Scott
Michele Rae Scott was born May 24th, 1966 in West Allis, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was the fifth child born to Robert Dennis and Marilyn Lucille (nee Nelson) Scott. She died Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at the age of 55.

Michele developed a fondness for animals at a very young age. She had many different animals throughout her life (hamsters, guinea pigs, dogs, horses, etc.). Each one received Michele’s doting and special care. Throughout her teenage years she participated in the Westerners program; a program that encourages self-respect, responsibility, and leadership through horsemanship. Michele’s love for horses continued throughout her life and she made sure every home she had would also have a place for her horses.

Michele held various jobs during her life; but felt her most important job was raising her three children, not out of obligation but love. Among many other traits; Michele was caring, resourceful, tenacious, and persistent and she passed these traits on to her sons through her devotion to them.

Michele’s passion for dogs led her to eventually begin breeding Miniature Australian Shepherds as one of her favorite various jobs. She carefully made sure each dog went to a loving home. Nothing pleased her more than a litter of squiggling, squealing puppies.

Michele enjoyed spending time with her friends. She loved music; singing while doing any activity and going to musical concerts. She was always trying to make people laugh with her quirky wit and infectious smile and laughter. Michele’s effervescent and joyful spirit will be dearly missed by all her friends and family.

An abbreviation of a poem written by Minerva Jane Chapman (Michele’s 3rd great grandmother) to her son to be read upon her death and shared here for Michele’s sons:

My work is done on the earth-land side,
My barque rides free on a swelling tide,
The anchor lifts and the winds blow fair,
For the isle that looms in the distance there;
A beautiful isle on a placid sea,
Where the white sails set are wafting me;
And a mother's love has the helm in hand,
To guide me safe to the shining strand,
I catch the sheen of the angel host,
And the light grows clear as I near the coast,
Where, a joy to tell, it is always June
With the song of birds and the flowers in bloom.
Dear son, farewell, 'till your weary feet
In their onward way, the soft waves meet,
Be sure I wait with a garland wreath
Aye farewell all, for a little while;
I will keep your thought in the spirit isle,
'Til the broken chain of the family tie
Is welded fast in the by and by;
To shine at last like the burnished gold
When one by one, all the links are told
And choral song from our lips shall swell,
"Safe at Home," "All is Well --- All is Well."

Michele was preceded in death by her parents. Michele is survived by her three sons; Travis J. (Summer Pawloski) Saunders, step-son Charles (Dana) Morgan, and Nicholas Morgan. In addition to her three sons, Michele is survived by three grandchildren: Chrislyn Goss, Bruce Saunders, and Cash Morgan. Michele is also survived by five siblings: Jacqueline (Tim) Grace; Laureen (Mike) Layman; Karen (John) Etiopio, Christina Scott; and Rebecca Scott-Wood; her aunt Kathleen Nelson and several cousins and nieces and nephews.
