Nanette Murset Nelson passed away on November 11, 2023 in her home, surrounded by her sweetheart David and loved ones. She died of complications from breast cancer. Nanette was born March 30, 1947 in Glendale, Los Angeles, California to Mary and Tom Murset. She was the oldest child with two brothers, Bill and Rich. She met her husband, David, on the dance floor at a BYU Ward party on Friday, March 13th, 1970. They were married in the Los Angeles Temple on July 11, 1970. It was a “True Tale of Romance and Love” for 53 plus years. They were blessed with their four terrific children: Mark, Scott, Dana, and Craig. They lived the vast majority of their married life in Littleton/Centennial, Colorado (Denver).
Nanette attended Los Angeles Valley College and Brigham Young University. She worked as a fitting model and Assistant to the Designer for a sportswear manufacturing company. In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in Young Women, Relief Society, Primary, Nursery, Public Affairs, Scouts, Ward Activities Chairperson, in the Temple, unofficial Greeter, Teacher, and has always been a faithful and kind Visiting Teacher/Minister. She has a special way of seeing the best in people and making them feel loved. She served as a Social Worker for LDS Social Services and as a Teacher’s Aide in the public school system.
Family and Church were her top priorities. Nanette loves to cook, entertain, decorate, garden, travel, bowl (high score 239), play tennis and racquet ball, take pictures of her family, sew, read, attend the temple, be at the beach with her family, gazing at the stars and the night sky every night, and all things dark chocolate. She has her family over for Sunday dinner almost every
single week. Nanette is optimistic, kind, knowledgeable, encouraging, selfless, nurturing, and was given many Christ-like qualities. She has an eternal perspective. She is really fun to be with and will be greatly missed.
Nanette is survived by her husband, David Allen Nelson; by two brothers, Bill (Debbie) and Rich (Carolyn); also, by her children and spouses, Mark (Emily), Scott (Tami), Dana (Ryan), and Craig (Liz). She has 12 grandchildren (11 grandsons and one favorite granddaughter).
