Obituary for Nicole L Freeman
Nicole Lorraine Freeman passed at the age of 58 on February 21st after a valiant 20-year battle with Parkinson’s disease. She battled it with the same effortless grace, wry humor and stubbornness that she brought to all things in her life. It was her most indispensable trait, her “bullheadedness” as her mother put it that enabled her to take it on the chin with a grin. Her faith and love for her family never wavered, not once, even in the face of insurmountable odds. She was determined to squeeze every last drop of color and love the world had to give, down to the last minute. There was never any whining, any self-pity and never a woe is me.
Even with a finite road laid out ahead of her, she persisted. Parkinson’s may have terminated a brilliant nursing career, but it didn’t put an end to her kindness and compassion, she was not to be denied. Always finding a way to put action to her intention, she finished an advanced nursing degree, then brought that skill set to bear with SET of Colorado Springs serving the underserved. “People before things” as her elder sister would say and she took it to heart for the duration of her life.
We will miss her dearly and remember her every time we put the needs of another ahead of our own
She is survived by her family; spouse Jeffrey, children AJ and Faith, brothers Vincent, Peter, Alexis, and Francis along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Albert, mother Faith, sister Francine. Visitation is scheduled from 11:00AM until 1:00PM Saturday March 2nd at Ellis Family Services 13436 Arbor Place, Littleton CO. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St Peter Catholic Church at 11:00AM Monday March 4th in Monument CO. A reception will follow in Jaeger Hall, interment will take place later this year at Pikes Peak National Cemetery. Per Nicole’s wishes, contributions in lieu of flowers be made to the Colorado Springs SET program or the St Peter Chapel Fund.
