Obituary for Ora H. Sullard
Sullard, Ora H. Ora's angels lifted her up to Heaven on July 5, 2012. Born in 1916 in Atlanta, Georgia, she blessed all that knew her for 95 years. She was preceded in death by her husband John “Bud” Sullard, Jr. and survived by her three children, John Sullard, III (wife Nancy); William Sullard (wife Sherry); and Sue Sullard. Proud and devoted grandmother of Alyssa, Thomas, Bambie, Timothy, Toby, Michael, Kathy, Jerry, Debbie, Kimmie and great-grandmother of Trevor, Angel, Ryan Thomas, Paul, Patrick, Brendon. Ora moved west to Colorado with her mother, sister, and brother who had contracted tuberculosis. She attended East High School in Denver and married in 1937. She worked in downtown Denver for The May Company and later devoted her life to raising her children. She loved the mountains and spending time at her beloved cabin in Bailey enjoying the surrounding nature – wildflowers, birds (especially the hummingbirds), squirrels, and even the bears that occasionally strolled through. Many hours were spent fishing on Buffalo Creek or up at Wellington Lake. She also loved summer trips to Vail. Ora had been active in her church and volunteering for Meals on Wheels through the Bow-Mar Monday Club. A favorite activity for years was leading a weekly bible study with friends from her church. She was a shining example of Christ’s love and an inspiration to all who met her. She moved into assisted living in October of 2011, where her love and deep faith inspired the residents and staff. Ora will be greatly missed, but we celebrate her life and will hold our many wonderful memories of her very close in our hearts.
