Obituary for Phyllis E. Stillman

Phyllis E Stillman of Littleton, Colorado passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2015, surrounded by her loving family after a wonderful and joyous 90 years.

Phyllis is survived by her four children; son, Lee, and wife Roseanne Parimuha, and grandchildren Kindra, Makenzie, and Lea; daughter, Drusilla Stillman and husband Abe, with step grandchildren Jacob and Joshua; with grandchild Shawn, and wife Laila and great grandchild Milo; daughter Cindy Stillman, and daughter Terri and husband Dean Engel, with grandchild Christopher.

Phyllis was born in Watrous, New Mexico to Jose and Rafalita (Martinez) Espinosa. She was the third of four girls, all preceding her in death, and two brothers, both named Ruben, who died in infancy. Phyllis, age 15, and her sister Aurelia, moved to Denver to begin her new life, enjoying the nightlife, dancing and shopping. Phyllis and Gene were married in 1955. She successfully raised not only her 4 beautiful children, but aided in the raising of her oldest grandson.

Many will remember Phyllis and Gene for their popular restaurants, Lista’s and La Cantina, in Littleton, and Conifer. Phyllis was the skilled hands behind their famous Sopaipillas, and was always greeting guests.

She has inspired us after having overcome breast cancer not once, but twice in her lifetime. You would rarely see her fearful in these times, but rather courageous based in her deep faith in God. She was an avid reader and an active member of her church (St. Francis Cabrini). She always had a vivid memory even into her 90's. Her stories shared with us all through her life would always amaze. She would recall a memory from 70 years ago as if had just happened.
Phyllis will be missed by so many that knew and loved her in her 90 years. She was an example of honesty, faith, courage and unconditional love. She was loved as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, great aunt and sister. This faith was strong until her final moments, she passed in peace, and her family is confident her presence with the Lord will bring her back in touch with her family, her beloved husband and bring an eternity of happiness.

The family prefers memorial contributions to St. Frances Cabrini Parish in lieu of flowers.
