Richard (“Dick”) A. Seul passed away peacefully on July 17, 2021, at the age of 83. A longtime resident of Pueblo, Colorado, Dick spent his final years in an assisted living home in the Denver area. Dick was much loved and admired by his family and friends for his warmth, kindness, simplicity, humility, curiosity, sly sense of humor, strength of character, and depth of caring.
Dick served as an Air Force intelligence communications specialist in the Middle East after graduating from St. Norbert High School in West De Pere, Wisconsin, where he was a boarding student. He married his wife of nearly 62 years, Emilie, in 1959. Dick worked three jobs when their sons were young, before becoming a bank teller in downtown Chicago. He held increasingly senior positions in large and small banks over the course of his career, ultimately serving in senior executive positions with several community banks in rural parts of Colorado, where the family moved in 1971. Dick helped start or otherwise supported many civic organizations and causes in the communities in which he lived.
Dick was the youngest child of Richard A. Seul and Loretta C. Seul. He grew up in Northfield, Illinois, one of the towns on the North Shore of Chicago his ancestors helped establish, and in Eagle River, Wisconsin. Dick is survived by his sisters Patricia (95) and Rosemary (90); his wife Emilie; his sons Jeff, Chris, and Tim, and their partners Esther, Tracy, and Masao, respectively; his grandchildren Debby, Cody, Connor, Ellis, and Carys; and his great-granddaughter Heather, daughter of Debby and her husband, Michael. Dick’s sister Carol, with whom he was very close, died in 1971. Dick was deeply devoted to and extremely proud of each member of his family.
