Obituary for Richard L. "Dick" Husmann
Richard L. "Dick" Husmann died October 20, 2019 at Cedars Healthcare Center in Lakewood, CO.
Richard was born in Brule, NE on December 15, 1933 to George and Mildred (Prang) Husmann and grew up in nearby Ogallala, NE. After high school Richard came out to CO for college, left to serve in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956 (honorably discharged, Staff Sergeant), and eventually returned to CO to finish his degree in Civil Engineering and Professional Engineer certification. Richard met and married Margaret "Margie" Lee on September 2, 1961. They had five children, Mark, Anastasia, Alicia, Rick, and Jocelyn.
Civil engineering was both what Richard did as well as who he was. His attention to detail and precision was interwoven into every aspect of his life. Having grown up with 4 brothers, Richard loved being part of a big family so after working in CA, NV, & AZ from 1988-1996, he moved back to CO once his first grandchild was born.
Survived by children Mark (Debra) Husmann, Anastasia (Benny) Bishop, Alicia (Terry) Bobolz, Jocelyn (Eric) Rhymer, and their mother Margie Husmann. Also survived by brother, Ernest Husmann, grandchildren Gretchen, Katheryn, Brendan, Dylan, Grant, Alyssa, & Jackson and great-grandson Benjamin.
Preceded in death by son, Richard "Rick" Husmann, and brothers, George "Arthur" Husmann, Ed Husmann, and Paul Husmann.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Cedars Healthcare Center "Garden Fund" (a place where Richard and our family would spend a lot of time once he was no longer able to get out and about) via Ellis Family Services. We will be purchasing an item for the garden that can be enjoyed by current and future staff, residents and visitors. Please make checks out to Jocelyn Rhymer. Collection envelopes will also be available at the Celebration of Life.
