Obituary for Rick David McNeil
McNeil, Rickey David, age 69 of Littleton. Rick McNeil was born on October 4, 1951 to Tom and Dorothy (Evans) McNeil in Roseville, California. He spent his youth hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He attended Roseville High School where he met Carol Baser. Rick and Carol married on August 22, 1970. They added two sons to their family shortly after they were married.
Rick worked hard to support his family; farming in the Roseville area, delivering for Roseville Dairy, then working for the Railroad. He continued to work for the Railroad when he moved to Colorado in 1992 with his family. Rick retired from the Railroad with 30 years’ service; in retirement he enjoyed traveling with Carol and his family. He also worked alongside Brandon at his store where he loved to chat with customers about his hobbies.
Rick also played hard, he coached baseball and played softball for many years. He made time to hunt and fish to provide for his family; in later years his hobbies were a way to spend quality time with those he cared about the most. Rick knew a little about a lot, there’s not a subject he could not talk about. He had a quick wit and loved to joke and have fun, read and learn about things that sparked curiosity.
Rick loved his family with everything he had, he was funny and loud and always had a smile. He is survived by his beloved wife Carol, son’s Brandon (Dana) and Derek (Susan); Grandchildren, Logan (Allie), Mason and Jadyn Windle (Ryan), Great Granddaughters Blakely and Peyton; his mother Dorothy and brothers, John and Doug; Too many nieces and nephews to count and a group of friends who will always miss their friend Rick.
Services for Rick will be held on Saturday August 21 at 10:30 am at Ellis Family Services, Funeral and Memorial Care, 13436 W Arbor Pl, Littleton, Co.
