Obituary for Robert J. Yaklich
Robert J. Yaklich, age 84 of Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
Bob’s children gather to announce their father has advanced to the next level of life, joining numerous family members and friends.
Dad lived with gusto and excelled in his endeavors as a well-known Real Estate Broker and Developer. Though Dad was raised on a farm near Pueblo, he was drawn to real estate and development. His career began in 1957 when he went to work for Holloran Inv. Co, in Pueblo. In 1960, Max Moore of Moore Realty met Dad and immediately offered him a position in Moore’s sales office in Denver. Dad accepted the position and quickly honed his skills. A few years later Dad became VP of Moore’s Commercial RE office.
Dad was one of the founding members of CCIM, (the Colorado Commercial Investment Members) which is now a designation real estate brokers commonly aspire to. He took pride in his time as an instructor at CU Denver for several years, as education was important to him.
Dad was actively involved as a consultant in the development of DTC, the redevelopment of several sites in the Denver area and developed several Pole Creek neighborhoods and others in Tabernash & Winter Park, Colorado. His credentials are too many to list, suffice it to say Dad knew absolutely everything about real estate and was respected by his colleagues.
As an avid and accomplished golfer, Dad enjoyed Columbine Country Club for nearly half a century. He spent an afternoon or two playing cards in the Men’s Grill, too.
Dad and his wife of 35 years, Gwen, traveled US and the world, often visiting relatives who still reside in the countries their grand-relatives came from. Dad appreciated family history.
In addition to his wife, Gwen, Dad leaves behind 8 children and an abundance of memories: Colleen (Mike Wardley), Cathy (Bob Hager), Lisa (Matt Lahrs), Leslee (Bud Superchi, deceased), Larry (Geri), Bev (Al Lopez), Shelly Lane, Jan (Bill Luckey), his honorary children (deceased brother, Jack’s kids), Jackie DeCarlo (Mike) and Jack Yaklich & children. Grandchildren: Wesley, Tommy, Spencer, Grace, Beth, Brandy, Katy, Ashley, Kacey, Roland, Adam, Jillian, Courtney, Chelsea. Stepchildren, Tim, Cindy and Lisa & their 7 children. Bob is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, sisters Nancy Pritekel & Linda (Jack Watson) and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob is pre-deceased by his parents, Joseph & Elizabeth, brother Jack, recently deceased sister Nadine & her husband Hank Pritekel, brother-in law, Joseph Pritekel (Nancy), and son-in-law, James “Bud” Superchi.
Hugs to Aunt Nancy & Aunt Linda. He loves you dearly.
There was never a dull moment with Dad around. He will be missed.
