Obituary for Robert M. Fairbairn
Robert M. Fairbairn Sr. (Bob), 84, passed away peacefully at his home on November 10, 2016. Robert was born on August 8, 1932 in St. Andrews, Scotland to Thomas and Betty Fairbairn.
Bob is survived by his wife Marie, their son Daniel Fairbairn (Becky) of Littleton, Colorado, daughter Susan O’Dell (Mike) of Littleton, Colorado and preceded in death by son Robert Fairbairn Jr.; four grandchildren Daniel, Connor, Madison and Sean. He is also survived by siblings Beatrice Rein, James Fairbairn and William Fairbairn. Other family members included numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob was raised in New York City. In 1951 he enlisted in the United States Air force and was stationed in Niagara Falls, New York where he met his wife of 63 years Marie. He served 4 years at Ent Air Force base in Colorado Springs, Colorado and then returned to Niagara Falls, New York to attend the University of Buffalo where he obtained an associate’s degree in commercial art.

Bob worked as a commercial artist for Loblaws Supermarkets in Buffalo New York, lived a short time in Syracuse New York, before settling permanently in Littleton, Colorado in 1971 with his wife and children.

He retired in 1995 and enjoyed camping, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren. He volunteered his talents as an artist to his church and community. Bob and Marie wintered in Arizona for many years. They spent holidays, birthdays and special occasions surrounded by their family.

Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, sibling, and friend and will be dearly missed.
