Obituary for Ruth J. (Ormond) Sisler
Ruth Jeanne was born on January 15, 1929 to Ralph and Ruth (Bowers) Ormond in Kearney Nebraska. She passed on January 4, 2020 at home, surrounded by family.
Ruth grew up in the depression and would never let anything go to waste. Ruth believed that people were the riches in her life. Ruth's youth was impacted by World War Two, including living in Washington DC as her mother and dad served in the war effort. In her teen years, she moved to Denver, graduating from East High School.
It was in Denver that Ruth met Ben Sisler at a softball game. Ben and Ruth were married on July 15, 1950. Ben passed away in late 2019; Ruth missed him deeply. They had four children: Gary, Lynette Steven, and Corey.
In the 1950’s, Ruth and Ben bought land in Littleton and built a house. Later, after the 1967 Platte River Floods, the Army Corps of Engineers required them to move for the construction of Chatfield Dam. They relocated in the Columbine area and remained there. In addition to being a wife and mother, Ruth worked at Sears, the Colorado Education Association, and Ben's business, Central Wheel Alignment.
Ruth and Ben enjoyed family events, visiting friends and relatives, and traveling around the country,. Ruth was active in exercise groups and various church and neighborhood groups throughout her life, where she made many wonderful friends. Ruth will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
