Obituary for Samson Felix Maes
Samson Felix Maes came into this world against all odds on October 16th, 2019. His conception was unexpected and miraculous. Around his 20th gestational week, it was discovered that he was behind in growth, and doctors discovered a placental abnormality restricting his nutrition. Ultimately, Samson was delivered at 26 weeks and 2 days, weighing a mere 1 lb. He lived up to his namesake, and was a mighty warrior. His feisty and determined spirit surprised doctors, as he survived delivery. He got to know his family for the next four weeks, receiving constant love and attention. His mom stayed by his side every chance she got, and poured her love upon him.
If love were all he needed, he would still be with us today. However, Samson struggled to develop blood flow to his lungs, and lacked the oxygen absorption his body required. Samson succumbed to pulmonary hypertension at 12:01 AM on November 15, 2019. He passed away in his parents’ loving embrace; they were able to hold their son just before he went to be with the Lord. Although his time on this earth was short, Samson had a tremendous impact upon each life he touched. Samson Felix Maes is survived by his mother, Amanda Maes, father, Lucas Maes, and sister, Eisley Maes.
