Obituary for Sherry Jo Alley Cadwallader
Sherry Cadwallader, 61, passed away at home in Centennial, Colorado on February 16, 2016.
Born May 12, 1954, in La Junta, Colorado. Went to be with God on February 16, 2016. Daughter of William H. and Barbara Ann Alley. Sherry was raised in Rocky Ford, Colorado and graduated from Rocky Ford High School in 1972. She married her high school sweetheart, Gary Cadwallader, on December 29, 1973. The couple moved to Tulsa, OK where Gary was enrolled at the University of Tulsa. She became a bookkeeper for Tulsa Paper Company. While living in Tulsa for 8 ½ years, the couple welcomed three sons into the world. In June 1981 they moved to Littleton, Colorado to be closer to family. In 1989 Sherry was diagnosed with Scleroderma and given five years to live. For 17 years she fought off the effects of the disease with drugs, and in 2006 became drug free through Chiropractic care from her oldest son, Michael. She lived a full life, helping to raise seven grandkids, traveling with her husband Gary to Hawaii, Mexico, and a decade long quest to visit every major league ballpark. She also ran a bookkeeping business out of the home. Most of all, she gave of herself every day, never wavering in her desire to help others. She was diagnosed with small cell carcinoma in her lungs, liver and brain on January 14, 2016. She passed quietly in her bed at home on the evening of February 16th with her husband by her side.
Sherry is survived by her husband of 42 years, 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Michael (Melinda) of Coeur d’ Alene, ID, Scott (McKinley) of Highlands Ranch, and Jeffry (Stephanie) of Centennial, eight grandchildren, Meagan (19), Delia (16), Hannah (9), Adira (8), Jackson (6), Aiden (5), Soren (5), and Olivia (3). She is also survived by her three sisters, Debra Spangler, JoAnn (Frank) Rogers, and Linda (Mike) Daniels.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 20th at South Suburban Christian Church located at 7275 South Broadway, Littleton, Colorado. Cremation is being handled through Ellis Family Services of Littleton. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to either the Arapahoe High School Baseball Club or the Colorado Rockies Baseball Club Foundation in memory of Sherry.
