Obituary for Terry Lee Smay
Terry, age 67 of Littleton, Colorado.
Life Statement
Terry L. Smay went home to the Lord on November 8, 2017 in Littleton, Colorado. He has left behind a life and legacy to be celebrated. His life began on December 14, 1949 to parents Grant Ed Smay and Joyce Hoffman in Peoria, Illinois. Terry was followed into life by brothers Steve and Eddie, and much later by half-sisters Heidi Jo and Tandy. His family moved to Los Angeles, California where he grew up and later raised his own family. He met his high school sweetheart Sharon Ricker at Open Bible Church in Tujunga and they began their lives together on February 22, 1969, at which time he was blessed with an entire new family including parents Harry and Faye, siblings Sandy, Harry, and Wendell. Terry and Sharon unfortunately spent the beginning of their marriage apart while Terry served in the US Navy. He did three tours overseas where he gained a valuable education that later created a successful career. He was very proud to serve a tour on the USS New Jersey and work his way up to an E5 Electricians Mate. Once he was back home, Terry went into the electrical contracting business with his father Ed and brother Steve, and started a family with Sharon, blessing this world with Matt and Charity. He enjoyed coaching football and baseball as Matt grew up, taking family vacations to his favorite places in Hawaii, being an active member of Open Bible Church, and visiting family in Arkansas. He had a long and prosperous business with his brother Steve until retirement from Smay Electric in 2010. In retirement Terry and Sharon moved to Colorado to be closer to Matt, his wife Maren, and granddaughters Maegan and Madison, with frequent trips to Idaho to visit Charity, Todd, and twin grandsons Luke and Caden. Terry’s joy in life was his family, his loving wife Sharon, and he cherished times all together in California, Colorado, Yellowstone and Big Sky. Terry was preceded in death by his mother Joyce, half sister Heidi Jo, father Ed, step-mother Marie, father in law Harry, and furry companion Rugsby.

The casket will not be open for visitation or services. The family will gather at 11:00 AM to visit, followed by services starting afterwards by 11:30 AM.
