Obituary for Thomas E. Chesher
Chesher, Thomas E., 64 of Englewood. Tom was born April 22, 1949 and passed away peacefully on July 10, 2013. He was a man of honor, duty, compassion, humor and generosity. He is survived by his wife of 15 years Molly; son, Tyler & Daughter-in-Law Danette, two daughters Staci and Kelly & Son-in-Law Luke, and four grandchildren Julia, Jake, Maddie, and Cameron all from Colorado; as well as two brothers and two sister residing in New Mexico. His family and friends were his most valued possessions. He was a Vietnam Veteran proudly having served two tours from 1969 to 1971, when he was honorably discharged. Back in civilian life Tom joined the Colorado Jaycees rising through the ranks to become a Senator. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Military Order of the Cooties and American Legion. He most recently served as Senior Vice Commander with the VFW and 'Keeper of the Crummy Duffel Bag' (Treasurer) of the Cooties. He volunteered every chance he got at the VA Hospital and VA Community Living Center, calling Bingo, taking his service dog 'Blue' to visits with his brothers in arms and in general doing whatever was needed. He was also a member of the VFW Department Color Guard. In addition, he enjoyed actively volunteering for his own community of Englewood. His off time was largely spent gardening and composting. Tom was employed by the City of Englewood for over 25 years in several positions to include his favorite, a Volunteer Fire Fighter.
