Obituary for Timothy Charles Sullivan

Timothy Charles Sullivan was a kind-hearted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and friend. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 31, 2021 at the age of 64 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Tim was born on October 19, 1956 in Indianapolis, Indiana. From a young age, he was a hard worker who spent 20 years at UPS and then nearly 20 years at Western Summit, TIC, and Kiewit. Tim was universally respected for his work ethic and his compassionate approach to his colleagues and friends.

Tim is survived by his adoring wife, Lena Sullivan; his two children, Scott and Dylan Sullivan; his siblings Claudia (and husband Rick), Terri (and husband Eric), Scott (and wife Sheri); and his grandson, Jack. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Wilson; as well as his siblings Michael and Mark.

Tim met the love of his life, Lena Sullivan, in the fall of 1985 at Studebaker’s in San Antonio after being transferred to the city for his career. Lena’s father had strong feelings about not meeting a boyfriend at a club, so the young couple told the family that they met at a car show until her dad could meet Tim for himself. As it turns it out, both of Lena’s parents soon also fell in love with him, as was the case for nearly anyone who met Tim. Lena knew right away that he was the man she would marry and build a life with, and on May 9, 1987 they were happily married. The two spent 34 wonderful years together, full of love and mutual respect. They stood by each other’s side, and their relationship served as an example of true love to their friends and family.

Tim also had an extensive passion for travel. When he wasn’t traveling by air, he enjoyed long rides on his Harley and long road trips with his boys (aka “Boys’ Tour 2000”) and more. The photo above is in Oia, Greece on a very special trip through Europe in 2019.

Tim Sullivan was known for his kind soul, quick wit, and willingness to listen to anyone who needed help. There was never a person or a dog who didn’t like him, and he was the type of man who gave his love freely to anyone in his life. He was eternally positive and humorous, and the most loyal friend to those who were lucky enough to know him. Tim will always be remembered for his loving spirit, his blue eyes, and his pure heart. It speaks to his character that one of his favorite movies was Forrest Gump. In honor of Tim, he requested that his friends and family take time to watch that movie and think of him.

There will be a private ceremony to spread Tim’s ashes with his immediate family. Please share any thoughts or fond memories you have of Tim on for the family to view. With love and compassion, we will all hold Tim Sullivan in our hearts forever. Rest in Peace.
