Obituary for Virginia K. Courson
Courson, Virginia Klingler, age 92 of Denver, Colorado. Virginia was born on February 10, 1921, in Lawrenceville, Illinois to long time Lawrenceville residents, John and Hattie Klingler. She passed from this life on October 11, 2013, at the Sunrise at Flatirons Assisted Living in Broomfield, Colorado at the age of 92. Virginia graduated from Lawrenceville High School in 1939 and was also an active member of the First Presbyterian Church while residing there. She was married to A.J. Courson in March of 1941 and to this union two sons were born, John and Thomas. Virginia was a well known instructor of the Southern Illinois youth in tap dancing and ballet. A.J. “Joker” and Virginia moved to Denver, Colorado and resided in the Park Hill area in 1952 with their two sons, moving to Littleton, Colorado in 1961 and into the Pinehurst Village in 1990 where she lived until moving into Sunrise at Flatirons this past August to be closer to her son Tom and his wife Sheryl. She was a member of the Pinehurst Country Club and had served as a past President of the Pinehurst Village Homeowners Association. Virginia was an assistant to the Principal at Hillel Academy in the late 60’s and into the 70’s; she was a past President of the East Denver High School PTA as well as past President of the Littleton High School PTA. Virginia was an active member of the Littleton Lady Elks and held membership at the First Presbyterian Church of Littleton where she served her church as an Elder, Deacon, and Clerk of Session. She had a passion for the youth within in her church and community. Virginia is preceded in death by her beloved husband A.J. Courson, her parents John and Hattie Klingler, and a sister Carmen Pace who was a long time resident of Bridgeport, Illinois. She is survived by her sons John and his wife Marcia of Sacramento, California and Tom and his wife Sheryl of Boulder, Colorado as well as four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren to carry on her legacy.
