Obituary for Wanda L. Mason
Wanda Lee Mason was born on April 17, 1934 to Ray and Eva Marr in Arkansas City, Kansas. At the age of 7, her family including brother Ray and sisters Phyllis and Twila moved to Denver. Wanda attended North High School, where she made several lifelong friends.
Her family includes: her husband Len M Beirle, her three children Cynthia (married to Royce) Larson, Debbie (married to Elvin) Miller and Greg (married to Mary Beth) King. She has eight grandchildren: Bryan (married to Stacey) Miller, Aaron (married to Carrie) Miller, Jameson (married to Katie) Miller, Raymond King, Mathew (married to Kayla) King, Rebekah King, Peter (married to Amie) Larson and Sarah (married to Daniel) Searles. She has sixteen great grandchildren: Austin, Taylor, Brooklyn, Payton, Wyatt, Bryson, Thomas, Lexington, Penelope, Avery, Samuel, Iwan, Camden, Declan, Eleanor and Grace.
Wanda was devoted to her grandchildren; attending their sporting events, dance performances and making annual visits to Washington to see her grandchildren there. Wanda also enjoyed theater and annually attended the Nutcracker ballet. She loved to travel, taking many trips to Mexico with her close friend Glaphre, road trips driving Cindy to and from college in Washington, and enjoying cruises with Len along the North Eastern Coast, Panama, Curacao and Aruba. She took fun trips to England, the Northwest and Disney World with grandchildren. Her last vacation was with Len to Washington to meet her two newest great granddaughters in December 2015.
She was retired after many years as Glendale’s City Clerk, and then later returned to work as a receptionist at Malley Senior Recreation Center. As a long time member of Denver First Church of the Nazarene Church, she especially enjoyed her time as a greeter and worked part-time as a receptionist there for several years.
Wanda was a cancer survivor, and if desired, contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
