William “Bill” Channing Warner went to be with the LORD Nov. 27, 2020. Army Captain, Special Forces. Beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Husband of Sandra J. Warner of Aurora. Father to Jessica N. Warner of Englewood, Gretchen E. Rose of Superior, Heidi M. Lewis of Spokane. Son-in-law Andre Lewis of Spokane. Grandfather to Tyler Pierce, Robin Kline, Austin Pierce, Karter Lewis, Maren Rose, Warner Lewis, and Landon Lewis. Great- Grandfather to Bodhi William Pierce. Survived by sister, Karen J. Schoenhals of Atlanta.
Bill was born 84 years ago in Oakland, California to Bernard William Warner and Hettie Sherratt. He grew up in a loving Christian family with an adoring little sister, Karen. Bill graduated from Oakland High School in January of 1954. He then attended The University of California, Berkeley. After graduation, Bill entered the Army and completed Jump school becoming an Airborne Ranger.
Bill married the love of his life, Sandra “Sandi” Johansen in 1964. They were best friends and teammates for almost 54 years. Together they raised three children while Bill worked for B. Braun McGaw Laboratories as a National Accounts Manager. While at B. Braun Bill started a company prayer group and organized worship services which were held at National Sales Conventions.
Bill and Sandi have been members of Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church in Greenwood Village for 36 years, during which time Bill served as Deacon, Elder, mentor, Chili Cook-off organizer, Sunday School teacher, and Vacation Bible School leader. Bill deeply loved his church community and served it faithfully.
Bill loved his wife Sandi and his children, but undoubtedly his pride and joy were his six grandchildren. “Epa” intentionally invested in each grandchild, praying for them daily, coaching soccer teams, attending hokey and basketball games, riding dirt bikes down Vail mountain, and going down water slides until 80 years of age. Epa had a profound impact on his grandchildren who will surely follow Epa as he followed Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1).
