Obituary for William Michael Legenza
William, age 70 of Central City, Gilpin County, Colorado passed away on Friday May 12, 2017 at Littleton Adventist Hospital. Mr. Legenza is survived by wife Doreen, daughter Kristen, and son-in-law James.

Bill is a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he was a sharp shooter. He grew up in Chicago, Illinois one of two sons of Michael and Harriet Legenza. As a child he spent many hours with his older brother John who was also drafted and served in Vietnam. Bill had met Doreen prior to his tour and rekindled his love interest with her promptly upon returning to Chicago. They were married 49 years. Bill worked in the trades for nearly 30 years doing commercial and residential flooring.

While living in Illinois Bill and Doreen became interested in Siberian Huskies and were active showing them with the Chicago Husky Club. Through their love of dogs and their mutual friends, they started putting together their dog sled teams, Keko Kennels. During the time away from the city, Bill and Doreen would spend their time camping and exploring the western part of the United States.

During the mid 70’s Bill and his wife Doreen decided to take their only child Kristen to Colorado where they could live and spend their time exploring the mountains of which they both passionately loved. Bill was fortunate enough to build his families dream home in Gilpin County, with a view of the continental divide, where they lived up until 4 years ago when health issues forced them down to the front range area in Roxborough Park to be closer to their daughter.
