Obituary for Catherine A. "Cathy" Sheehan
The family of Catherine Ann “Cathy” Sheehan is sad to announce that she has returned to the loving arms of Jesus on February 4, 2020 at 5:20 am after suffering with dementia for many years. She was 89 years old, born on December 28th, 1930 to Katy Belle (Fox) and Julius Henry Nauser, Jr in Independence, MO.
Catherine will be lovingly remembered by her children, including Laura (Sheehan) Porter, Gregory Sheehan and Mark Sheehan (Malynda) along with her grand-children Sheridan and Cameryn Porter, Danielle and Sam Sheehan, .JJ. Pita and Glynn Sheehan. She is survived by her former spouse, Jerry Sheehan (Reba), her brother Johnnie Nauser (Mariann) and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Joan and Mary Frances.
In her younger years, Cathy enjoyed snow and water skiing, and served 2 years as an Air Force Reservist. She worked for many years for Union Pacific Railroad, Miller Brewing Company and Borg’s Children’s Cottage and spent much of her free time volunteering. She enjoyed traveling, with a trip to Jerusalem being one of her favorite journeys, along with motor-home trips with her sister Mary and brother-in-law Gene. She loved to watch MASH, play board games and was an expert at puzzles.
Beyond these activities, her true happiness and passion were her children and grandchildren. She loved them with an amazing fierceness and loyalty throughout her life. She was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ as well as a generous and creative person who had a soft spot for animals.
Cathy faced much adversity throughout her life, and she battled through with grit and determination until the very end. We are grateful for the gift of love that she brought to our lives, and we rejoice that she is at peace with her Savior.
Thank you all very much for the outpouring of love and support!
With Peace, Love and Light, The family of Catherine Sheehan
