Obituary for Jody Tyson Witt
Jody Witt was born April 19, 1952 in Oakridge, TN, to Bob and Laura Witt. He was raised in Colorado, graduating from Evergreen High school in 1970. He joined the Army for 3 years before joining the Colorado Department of Highways to start his state career. In 1979 Jody joined the Colorado State Patrol where he was first stationed in Idaho Springs, then moved to Fort Lupton, Golden, and Castle Rock before finishing his career in 2001 at the Adams County troop office as Captain and building engineer.
Jody Witt married Debbie Hoffman on July 10, 1984 on his lunch break at the Gilpin County Court house. With her came her two children, Drew and Donda, who later brought in her husband John, and Jody's pride and joy, his grandsons, Dawson a senior, and Jarrett a sophomore, who attend Dakota Ridge High School. Jody enjoyed watching "the boys" learn, grow and play, especially football!
Jody spent his life serving others not only as a civil servant, but as a husband, father, grandfather, uncle, Cub Scout master, friend and neighbor. There wasn't a time that Jody stood idle, and his project list was always growing. Jody could not turn down a request, especially from his grandsons including becoming their Cub Scout Master which he enjoyed to the fullest, as well as prepairing automobiles for them. But the list of duties, or recipients did not stop there, but expanded through the neighborhood and state. He was known as the man to call for any task from the simple light switch to the most complex deck or remodel, and his talents are proudly displayed and will be missed around the state.
He is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren and 4-legged children, as well as his sister, Kay Rubel in Ft. Collins, CO, her husband Paul, as well as his brother Tony Witt in Dubai, brother-in-law Kerry Hoffman and sister-in-law Val Hoffman, and multiple nieces, nephews, their families and unlimited friends and his life-long friends and family in blue. He was preceded in death by both his parents, and his brothers Lynn and Guy Witt.
