Obituary for Teresene "Terri" Clarice Hamblin
Teresene "Terri" Clarice Hamblin at Golden, CO and resident of Akron, CO was a caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She passed away peacefully at the age of 101 on November 5, 2021.

Terri was born August 31, 1920 in Marshalltown, Iowa, where she grew up with her mother, Clara Cather, and grandparents, in Marshalltown, Iowa. Terri met her husband, George, while attending secretarial school in Marshalltown, Iowa. George and Terri were married in 1941. George joined the army during WWII, at which time George, Terri and their three children, Bob, Sandy and George, moved to where George was stationed at La Joya in San Diego in 1943.

Upon recommendation of their family doctor, they moved to Hugo, Colorado in 1948, to support their daughter, Sandy's asthma. George found employment at Y-W Electric Association. Shortly thereafter in 1949, George, Terri and their three children moved to Akron, where their fourth child Lisa was born. Terri lived in their original home in Akron for 70 years until a few months before her passing.

Her years in Akron were filled with family and building her home on Cedar Avenue. In the early days in Akron, the KKK was very active and George and Terri were adamant deniers. Because of this work and the connections they built, George was then appointed by President Eisenhower as Postmaster General. During her children's growth years, Terri was active in the PTA, St. Joseph's Church Altern and Rosary Society, as well as the Cub Scouts of America when the kids were little. After her children were grown, she worked as an Abstractor with a specialty in the oil and gas industry.

In her later years, Terri continued to be involved with her friends and family and made a point to live a consistent and pragmatic life. She was known to her friends and family as someone from whom they could always count on for a humorously sensible opinion of matters. After her oncologist gave her a positive cancer diagnosis, she reassured him, "Yes, doc, you are still in the will." He replied with, "I hope so, because I have to figure out how you have lived so long."

To the union with George, four children were born. Her death was preceded by son, Robert "Bob" Hamblin; and daughter, Sandra "Sandy" Hertzwig (Roald Hertzwig, deceased). She is survived by her son, George Hamblin Jr. (Rosemary "Ro" Hamblin, deceased); her daughter, Lisa Hamblin; her grandchildren, Caarin Kogut, Jared Barnhart, Miranda Domenico, Serena Vandenberg, Ryan Vandenberg, Ben Hamblin, Chris Hamblin, Ingrid Hamblin, Bridget Hamblin Hatchell Gonzales, Ian Hamblin, Peter Hamblin Hatchell, Drew Hamblin Hatchell; and 17 great-grandchildren.

There will be a Rosary Service, in her honor, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Akron, Colorado on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. A funeral mass and service is scheduled for Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a burial service at St. Joseph's Catholic cemetery. The public is invited to pay their respects at all services.
