Colleen, age 67 of Lakewood.
Colleen battled pancreatic cancer (stage 4 in lungs) for 23 months. Her fight was a valiant one and fought with her steadfast love in our Lord Jesus Christ, her family, and her Christian sisters. Colleen’s postings for over a year on CaringBridge were a clear testimony of her faith and an inspiration to the many who read them.
Colleen is survived by her husband of 47 years, Gary: their three sons Andy, Tim, David and their spouses (respectively) Kate, Adrienne, and Brit. Colleen and Gary have been blessed with six grandchildren: Sydney (14), Landon (12), Trenton (10), Levi (10), Luke (7), and JeeWoo (4).
Additionally, Colleen is survived by two brothers, Bruce and Mark Fightmaster, and their spouses Cindy and Sharon; Gary’s sisters Judy McComas and Susan Tribble (Lee) and brother Harold (Sandra). The extended family includes 11 nieces and 8 nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Glendene Fightmaster.
Colleen has many friends through her Bible study groups, golfing buddies, and Friday painting class. She just recently enjoyed experiencing the love of watercolors and was so happy to share her newly found talent with friends and families. If you are friends with her on Facebook, you have seen many of them.
Colleen’s priority was always family and raising three boys so close in age was a challenge and a blessing all in the same hour of everyday. Nonetheless, she managed a twenty-year career with Jeffco Schools before the boys were born and after they entered middle school. Colleen worked in purchasing as an expeditor, a teacher’s aide, and as a school secretary at Green Mountain High School and Wilmot Elementary.
Colleen’s faith in our Lord and Savior was paramount in all she did here on earth. Her relationships with so many people in different venues (church, neighborhood, work, friendship groups, extended family) were examples on how to live a Christ-like life. Please read her posts on CaringBridge which were done over this past year while fighting cancer. Her physical body lost the fight to cancer, but her soul and spirit have found a new home in Heaven. There she waits for her family and all other believers in Christ along with the many who have gone before her.
A donation in Colleen’s name would be welcomed. Please consider the Vacation Bible School Program at Foothills Bible Church or the Wild Animal Sanctuary, Keenesburg, CO.
