Obituary for Loni Caro
Loni Caro of Littleton, CO was born on January 15, 1939 into a big family in the small village of Suhe, Gjirokaster, Albania. He was the third out of seven children born to his parents Filip and Athina. He left his village when he was very young to pursue his schooling in the city of Vlore and then in the capital city of Tirana. He studied technical design and drafting in college, and went on to a long career in that area. He spent his early years working on two important Albanian hydropower plants, Ulza and Bistrica. His name is engraved in the memorial at the Bistrica Hydropower Plant. He also played a major part in the design and construction of the grand pedestrian boulevard of Saranda, which is enjoyed by many people every day. He spent many years working in the Ministry of Urban Development, the Executive Committee of Saranda, and the Ministry of Economics, where he finished his career. During this time, he took part in many infrastructure projects to improve the cities of Tirana and Saranda.
Loni married Leonora Boci in 1968 and they had 3 children, Dritan, Luljeta, and Mariola, who were raised with a lot of love and care by both parents and their maternal grandmother, Maria. In 2006, Loni and Leonora moved to the United States of America to be close to their daughter Luljeta and her family. Loni loved the American people and their culture and embraced everything new about it. He was determined to learn to communicate in English and attended ESL classes at the local library as a senior citizen. He graduated from his ESL classes with honors and up until his last moments he tried to communicate in English to his caretakers. He became a U.S. citizen in 2011 and always considered the United States to be his second homeland.
Loni had been very healthy and physically fit his whole life. When brain cancer attacked in 2016, it slowed him down, but it did not break his spirit. He suffered from brain cancer for a long 16 months. Even though this disease was merciless, he always greeted everyone with his contagious smile. His optimism shone through his face and he fought hard day after day. Loni will always be remembered for his hard work, his love for his family and friends, for his smiley face, and his gentle manner. His friends and family are saying Good Bye to Loni today, but heaven gained another angel. May he rest in peace in the arms of his God.
Loni ka lindur ne 15 Janar, 1939 ne nje familje te madhe ne Suhe, Gjirokaster, Shqiperi nga prinderit e tij Filip dhe Athina. Loni ishte I treti ne shtate femije. Ai u largua nga fshati qe I vogel dhe ndoqi mesimet ne Vlore dhe ne Tirane. Ai u shkollua si teknik ndertimi dhe projektimi. Loni kaloi vitet e rinise duke punuar ne dy hidrocentrale te rendesishem ne Shqiperi ne ate te Ulzes dhe te Bistrices. Emri I tij edhe sot eshte I gdhendur ne lapidarian e ngritur ne hidrocentralin e Bistrices. Ai kaloi shume vite duke punuar ne Ministrine e Ndertimit, ne Komitetin Ekzekutiv te Sarandes, dhe ne fund ne Ministrine e Ekonomise Komunale deri sa doli ne pension. Ai ishte pjesetar I vlefshem I projektimit te veprave per te permiresuar infrastrukturen e qyteteve te Sarandes dhe Tiranes.
Loni u martua me Leonoren ne 1968 dhe ju linden tre femije, Dritan, Luljeta, dhe Mariola te cilet u rriten me shume dashuri dhe perkujdesje nga te dy prinderit dhe gjyshja e tyre Maria. Ne 2006 Loni dhe Leonora u shperngulen ne Shtetet e Bashkuara te Amerikes per te qene prane vajzes se tyre Luljeta dhe familjes se saj ne rritje. Loni I donte shume njerezit amerikane dhe kulturen e tyre dhe cdo gje te re te kesaj kulture. Ai ishte I vendosur te mesonte te komunikonte ne Anglisht dhe shkoi ne klasat e Anglishtes si Gjuhe e dyte ne librarine e lagjes ne moshe te madhe. Ai u gradua me nderime nga keto klasa dhe deri ne momentet e fundit mundohej te komunikonte ne Anglisht me stafin qe kujdesej per te. Ai u be qytetar amrikan ne 2011 dhe gjithmone konsideronte Shtetet e Bashkuara si atdhe I dyte. Loni vuajti nga kanceri I trurit per 16 muaj te gjate. Edhe pse semundja e tij ishte e pameshirshme, ai gjithmone I pershendeste te gjithe me buzeqeshjen e tij. Optimizmi I tij shkelqente nga fytyra e tij dhe ai luftoi jashtezakonisht cdo dite.
Loni do te kujtohet gjithmone per punen e tij, per dashurine qe kishte ndaj familjes dhe shoqerise, dhe per fytyren e tij te qeshur. Shoket dhe familja e tij po I thone mirupafshim Lonit sot, por parajsa po fiton nje enjgjell. U prehte ne paqe ne krahet e Perendise se tij.
