Reverend Nancy Elizabeth Rector Wright was born in Galax, Virginia. From her earliest days,
she was known as "Betsy." She loved growing up in a small town and being part of the First
Baptist Church of Galax. She was involved in, and loved doing, lots of things: GA, choir,
majorettes, band, etc. She left Galax early to start her family and become an army spouse.
She fully enjoyed getting to see so many new places and learning about each one. Every where she went she would volunteer her time and talents. Sometimes she was the church pianist or organist, she was an assistant dental hygienist, led Sunday School classes and youth groups, a hospice care assistant, a room mother (several times), and the Chairman of the Red Cross Volunteers just to name a few. She always made time to help others as she traveled around the globe.

While she was leading a program to help addicted women, she heard the call from God to go to seminary. Even though she was middle-aged, she stopped working and off to seminary she went. The highlight of her time may have been her missionary trip to Zimbabwe although she
thoroughly loved learning about the Bible, God, and everything else at BTSR. (Even in spite,
of the trouble she had learning Greek and Hebrew...) She said God called her to be ordained
and even though many people said no, she persevered until her home church ordained her. She was the Senior Pastor at Adams Grove and ministered to the community.

She endured many health issues and fought through many surgeries and illnesses. In 2012, she moved to Colorado to be close to her children and grandchildren. So they had the ability to have much more time together, share dinners, outings and one of her very favorite things,
Christmas Eve Dinner at her house with all of the family. There will always been an empty
space in our lives, the place she filled for each of us.
