Obituary for Eddie Arlyn Chitwood

Eddie Arlyn Chitwood, 63, Littleton, CO went to be with a God on June 8, 2019 surrounded by his immediate family.

He fought lung disease bravely for 5 years and prepared himself to be in the best shape of his life in preparation for a lifesaving double lung transplant. Due to a generous donor, Eddie received a phone call on June 4 for his second chance of life. Soon after a successful transplant operation, unforeseen complications in the ICU could not be overcome by his transplant team.

Eddie was born to Richard and Ruby Chitwood on January 17, 1956. He was educated in Richland Center until he left for University of WI-Lacrosse. After college he worked in MN for Fire Protection Design Services learning the fire protection industry which he enjoyed doing for the rest of his life. He worked for Eagle Fire Protection and then started his own company with a friend. He married Pamela Ann Marshall of Richland Center on August 28, 1982 and they moved to CO where they raised their family. He worked for Ferguson Enterprises in CO for many years and they supported him throughout his last few difficult years.

Eddie is survived by his wife Pam and three daughters Ashley Chitwood 34, Alexa Chitwood 32, and Kara Murphy 27 and husband Ryan Murphy 30. Other survivors include his parents Richard and Ruby Chitwood of Richland Center, sister Sharon (Tim) Grapengieser, brother Terry (Dorothy) and sister Shirley (David) Marshall. Eddie had many nieces and nephews that he influenced and helped over the years.

Eddie was notorious for being an excellent business man loved by all across the fire protection industry. He was a man of integrity, faith, kindness and true compassion. Most importantly he was a proud father and husband. He wanted nothing more than to be with his family and see his girls and wife be happy, well, and thriving. Eddie never missed a chance in 15 years to be there for a recital, play, dance competition, concert, or event. His family was his world and he was theirs.

A celebration of life announcement will be coming soon.
