Obituary for Greg Edward Lampard
Lampard, Greg E., passed away on Monday, February 13, 2012. At his side were his wife of 24 years Sarah and his children Tyler (17), Megan (15) and Annie (12), along with friends and extended family. Greg was diagnosed with non smoker’s lung cancer in July, 2011. After a courageous 8 month battle and working full time until 3 weeks ago, he peacefully went to his home in heaven doing what he enjoyed most...reminiscing with family and friends. Greg was born February 7, 1952 in Deport, Texas to Eugene Edward Lampard and JoAnn Watkins Lampard. Greg was proud of his Texas roots, often weaving Texas sayings and stories into conversation with his Colorado friends. He graduated from East Texas State University in 1974. After teaching school in Tyler, Texas he enlisted in the Air Force and served 4 years in Alaska and finally at NORAD, in Colorado Springs. He moved to Denver, where in October of 1986 at a Bronco brunch hosted by mutual friends he met his future wife Sarah Dunham. They were married a year later in September 1987. Being a faithful husband and father was of upmost importance to Greg. On his office and bedroom walls were the words ''A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove . . . . but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child.' Above all, Greg's highest priority since a young child was serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. While living in Denver, Greg was active at Cherry Hills Community Church and Greenwood Community Church, with a mission trip to Africa in 2004. Greg and Sarah’s house was open to the neighborhood and the world, with exchange students from Asia and Africa. When not attending hockey games, dance recitals and plays, Greg enjoyed playing golf, basketball, camping, attending small group bible studies, bike riding, and socializing with friends. After leaving the Air Force, Greg worked in the insurance and technology industry before moving back to his first occupational love...education. Since 2000, he has been teaching at the middle and high school levels. He completed his Masters of Education in Learning & Technology in 2005. Most recently he was the Dean of Students at College of America, an adult community college in Denver. Greg was preceded in death by his parents and survived by Sarah Lampard (wife), son Tyler, daughters Megan and Annie, his brother Dan Lampard, of Tennessee and his step-mother, Doris Barnes Lampard, of Bowie, Texas.
