Obituary for Rosemarie Ann Hamblin
Hamblin, Rosemarie Ann 'Ro', our beloved wife, mother, daughter, daughter-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, died on March 7th surrounded with the love of her husband, family and friends. Ro survived cancer for nine years with remarkable courage and grace. Ro was the first of three daughters born to Marie and Jim Videtto in Denver CO. She spent her childhood living in north Denver where she attended Mt. Carmel Catholic School. She moved to Lakewood when her parents opened a family restaurant (The Villagrove) and graduated from Lakewood High School in 1967. Ro was the first in her family to attend college and received her Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Western State College and a Masters Degree in Special Education from the University of Northern Colorado. Ro met the love of her life while attending Western State College. Ro and George were married June 15, 1969. She was a loving, devoted and proud mother to Ben (age 36) and Chris (age 34). The extension of their family, now including daughter-in-laws Kym and Nickie and grandchildren Mariah, Trevor and Jordon, will forever be a reflection of Ro and George’s faith in God, love and dedication to each other and their family. Each one of them brought her great pride and joy. Ro enjoyed travel, photography, music, nutrition, shoes and most of all, making any occasion an opportunity to create lasting memories with family and friends. As a dedicated educator Ro touched hundreds of children’s lives during her 38 years of teaching in elementary and secondary schools. She worked as a Classroom Teacher, Special Education Teacher, Instructional Coach and Professional Developer. Her passion for learning and vision lead her to establish RW Spirit of Joy, a non-profit organization with the mission of 'promoting literacy and bringing joy to children and families in need of compassion and support'. Ro adored her parents and knew her passion for living, love of family, compassion, sense of humor and her determination to do things her way were the characteristics instilled by her mom and dad. She will always be ‘Sister’ and BFF to Sue and Dee. She has been a role model, mentor and inspiration to her family, friends and colleagues. “Always remember…don’t cry because her life is over, smile because it happened” Dr. Seuss
