Obituary for Louis Francis Rettenmaier
Rettenmaier, Louis Francis, age 85 of Littleton. Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully at home on July 4, 2014, at the age of 85. Lou was born in Carroll, Iowa on February 16, 1929. Lou was the devoted husband of Maureen for 52 years. He was a 1956 graduate of the University of Iowa and also served in the US Navy. He lived a lifetime of adventure and was always game for trying new things. Lou was the consummate outdoorsman and passed his love of nature, fishing and hunting to his kids and grandkids. In his professional career, he worked for Buell Envirotech and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and also owned the Tack Shack in Littleton for a period of time. There was no task beyond his abilities as he was the ultimate handyman and do-it-yourselfer. Lou is survived by his loving wife Maureen; children Tracy (Roger Miller), Cathy (Doug Eberhard) and Chris Rettenmaier; grandchildren Sean (Alexis), Nicole and Eric. Lou is also survived by his last remaining sibling Mary Jane Carpenter. He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by those that knew and loved him.
