Obituary for Kendra Yvonne Davis
Davis, Kendra Yvonne (Cole), age 63 of Granby, formerly of Littleton. Kendra passed away October 30, 2014 at the Denver Hospice Care Center in Denver after a courageous fight against ovarian cancer. Her husband and sister were at her side at the time of her passing. She was a beautiful and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend to many. Kendra was born June 16, 1951, in Delta, Colorado. She grew up in Delta where she attended Delta High School and met her soon-to-be husband Gerald (Gary) Davis. She and Gary married following Kendra’s graduation from high school. They celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary this past August. Following Gary’s graduation from the University of Colorado, the couple began a series of moves for Gary’s career. In the early years of their marriage, they lived in Baytown, Texas; Los Angeles, California; Denver, Colorado; Gillette, Wyoming; Melbourne, Australia; and Dallas, Texas. Through all of their moves, they continued to consider Colorado home. They returned to Colorado in 1989 where they made their home in Littleton for the next 24 years. In 2013 they retired to their beautiful mountain home in Granby, Colorado, which sits atop a hill overlooking the Fraser Valley. The house is affectionately referred to as the “muffin” house by the family. Their door was always open for visitors and Kendra was the perfect hostess; her hospitality and the meals that she cooked will be dearly missed. Gary and Kendra were blessed with three children: Shannon, Ryan, and Brandon. Kendra devoted her life to her children and husband. Only after her children were older, did Kendra return to college to finish her degree. She graduated in 1997 from Metro State University with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught primary school for the next 15 years in Jefferson County. She loved her students and gave generously. Every year she would identify a family in need at the school and anonymously provide all of the Christmas presents for the family on Christmas Eve. In 2005, Kendra became a Nana for the first time when Ian was born. In the next few years, she was blessed with 3 more grandbabies: Brogan, Cole, and Riley. She brought the same love and devotion to her 4 grandchildren that she did to her children. The grandchildren were truly the light of Kendra’s life. Kendra will be missed most for her compassion and generosity. She has been described by many as the kindest person that they ever met. We love her, miss her very much, and will try our very hardest to continue her legacy of kindness. Kendra is survived by Gary; Shannon (Matt) Long; Ryan (Valerie); Brandon (Nadia); Ian; Brogan; Cole; Riley; her sister, Janet; and her brother, Bruce. Kendra was predeceased by her father, Kenneth, and her mother, Urilda.
