Obituary for William Clyde Hoover
Hoover, William Clyde, age 80 of Deer Trail. 80 Years young……“Well, there are some things a man just can’t run away from” John Wayne in “Stagecoach”. Born the second child to John Marcus and Idell Katherine Hoover from Bates County, Missouri. Clyde attended Butler High school when he met a young woman from a neighboring school. Norma would become his sweetheart, wife, and life partner. They married in November of 1956 and Clyde, soon after, joined the Army. He was enlisted for two years of service and was stationed in Olympia, Washington. Here they welcomed their first child and the three moved back to Missouri after his term. They raised their growing family on the farm and life was filled with rodeos, fishing, and fun with nieces and nephews always a part of their brood. Clyde was a carpenter by trade and moved to Colorado in 1972 after the birth of their fourth child, a daughter, for a new beginning. He continued the building trade until 1979 when he joined the Carpenter/Millwright local Union #2834 of which he retired from that profession. To his family he was their “John Wayne” or their very own hero. He was a bigger than life man that lived the same way. Many memories, stories, acts of kindness and love will live on in all that knew him. He is survived by his wife Norma; four children Jerry (Mercy) Hoover, Doug Hoover, William Casey (Holly) Hoover, and Jennifer (Brian Phelps) Shumate; grandchildren Kristina Hoover, Mellissa ( Shelby) Addleman, Jacklyn Hoover, Heather (Dale) Turner, Jinelle Hoover, Kayla Hoover, Jessie Hoover, Kristen Wells, Rachelle Holden, William Cole Shumate, Lane Phelps and Gage Phelps and many great-grandchildren. Honorary Hoover brood include Mike and Cheryl Hoover, Randy and Eddie Phillips (all from Missouri) and Robert Steimel (of California) plus too many to count! Clyde was preceded in death by his parents John Marcus and Idell Katherine Hoover, brother Mark Hoover, sister Marcia Phillips, nephew Cecil (Pistol) Phillips and grandson David Hoover.
Cemetery: Committal ceremony with military Honors and interment following the service.
