Obituary for John LeGrand Branson
John L. Branson, pianist, composer, and teacher was born in Hereford, Texas in 1923 and died in Denver on January 17. He earned a Master's Degree in Piano Studies from the University of Tulsa in the late '40s, spent 20 years teaching at the college level and then 29 years as a private teacher in the Denver area. In 1995, he co-founded the Clementi Piano Festival for which he had composed orchestral accompaniments for several of Clementi's piano sonatinas. Every year since 1995, piano students have come to Denver to perform these sonatinas with a chamber orchestra.

He is survived by his daughter, Nancy S. Steffen of Berthoud, Colorado, his son, John G. Branson of Dallas, Texas, three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Roberta Branson, April 22, 2013.
