Obituary for Dale Van Underwood
Gallup – Burial for Dale Van Underwood, 78 was May 6, 2021 at the Santa Fe National Cemetery for Veterans in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Underwood died April 19, 2021 in Aurora, Colorado. He was born June 14, 1942 in Anita, Iowa.
Underwood served in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service during the Vietnam War. He earned degrees in Finance and Accounting from University of Northern Colorado and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Western State College of Colorado. He spent his career working for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Window Rock, Arizona and Juneau, Alaska; and the U.S. Forest Service in Gunnison, Colorado. After retirement from government service, he volunteered in various capacities for local non-profits.
Survivors include his wife Jocelyn Underwood in Gallup; sons Eric Underwood of Portland, Oregon and Andrew Underwood of Denver, Colorado; daughter Sarah Underwood-Crosby of Aurora, Colorado; and brothers Ray Underwood of Griswold, Iowa and Lee Underwood of Waukee, Iowa.
Underwood was preceded in death by his parents Clair and Janet Underwood.
