Obituary for Dennis A. Maciejewski
Dennis, age 87 of Aurora.
Dennis was born to Paul and Anna Maciejewski on June 9, 1933 in Ashton, Nebraska. He grew up on the family farm along with his one and only sibling, his sister Rita.
Dennis graduated from Ashton High School in 1950. He went on to serve in the army and soon after his service ended, he took a job with Petroleum Helicopters in Lafayette, Louisiana as a mechanic. While in Lafayette, at a restaurant, he asked the pretty cashier for a date. On November 22, 1955 he married the pretty cashier, Pearl Broussard.
His time with Petroleum Helicopters included adventures such as a stint in the Amazon working to keep the helicopters up and running for a geology company. In the Amazon, being the animal lover he was, he befriended a monkey, who became the camp mascot. His young wife wanted to be near so she moved to Barranquilla, Colombia and they soon welcomed their first child. The couple returned to Lafayette, Louisiana where Dennis continued to work for Petroleum and where they would soon add two more children.
Dennis and Pearl moved to Omaha, Nebraska where he was hired as an aircraft mechanic by United Airlines in 1961. Dennis would remain with United until his retirement in 1995. After being transferred to multiple locations, Denver being the last transfer, he settled in Aurora, Colorado.
Dennis enjoyed travel and one very special trip was to the mother land, Poland, in 2003 with his adored sister Rita. These two siblings were very close, and Pearl stated that one of her greatest joys was to hear these two talk at the kitchen table when Rita would come to visit.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Pearl; children Denise Kratky, Mark Maciejewski, Brian Maciejewski (Teri); his grandchildren Justin Kratky (Sunnie), Sarah Shores (Jymi); his great-grandchildren Sean Kratky, Skylee Kratky, and Shane Kratky; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
