Donald (Don) Arthur Parks was born in Ft. Collins, Colorado on May 30, 1937. He was the son of Woodfin Grandy Parks and Marie Adeline Parks (Koemmann). Don passed away peacefully in Englewood, Colorado on March 21, 2023, at the age of 85, surrounded by his loving family.
Don graduated from Greeley High School in 1956. After high school he continued his education at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) for two years. He left college to start his career.
His first job was delivering newspapers. After that he had different jobs where he learned varying skills to further his career. When he left UNC, he took a position with Mountain Bell. Don worked for Mountain Bell for 34 years, starting as a janitor and moving up to Building Manager and Contract Administrator for multiple US West buildings. Once he retired from US West (formerly Mountain Bell), he took a position with Varsity Contractors as a Contract Administrator and Building Inspector.
Don has always had a love for music including playing the trumpet in the Pep Band and Marching Band for Greeley High School. Don learned his affinity for the outdoors from his dad and Boy Scouts. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and was always helping and guiding younger troops. This includes being a camp counselor at Bob Waite Boy Scout Camp for two years. He was very industrious and could fix “anything”. He enjoyed working in the garage and working on cars. Don was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, and camping. He has traveled all over the United States on various hunting and fishing trips with family and good friends.
Don is survived by the love of his life Katheryn Aldine Parks (Hagen), his daughter April Dahlager, his grandchildren Josselyn Karlen, Mikayla Dahlager and Alexander Dahlager. His special nephew Kevin Parks and his daughter Caryn Parks, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by Todd and Scott Parks.
Don is predeceased by his parents, Woodfin Grady Parks and Marie Adeline Parks (Koemmann), his brother Grady Marvin Parks.
In lieu of Flowers the Family is requesting donations to Max Fund (a no kill animal shelter) and the Alzheimer’s Association of Colorado.
