GRIEF & HEALING
affirmations to uplift & help you through
each stage of the grieving process.
Esther Marie (Burg) Isaacson, age 93, longtime resident of Denver, Colorado. Esther was the only daughter in a family of five children. She was born and raised in Sioux City, Iowa. After graduating from Central High School, she completed two years of business school. She then went to work for Armour & Company, one of the five leading American companies in the meat packing industry.
Esther met her future husband while she was still in high school. She married Maurice "Maurie" Isaacson, after his discharge from the Army. They celebrated 72 years of marriage in August 2018. They moved to Colorado from Iowa for Maurie to pursue his Master’s Degree at the University of Denver. Esther transferred with and continued to work for Armour & Company in Denver.
Esther and Maurie had two daughters, Valerie and Cherrelyn. Esther quit her job and stayed at home to raise their two children. She was a warm and caring mother who spent hours sewing clothing for her daughters (as well as their dolls), helping with homework, being a room mother and also a Girl Scout leader. She pursued many crafts over the years, including macramé, needlepoint, sewing and acrylics. She was supportive of her husband’s love of flying and helped plan the many trips the family took across the United States as well as to numerous towns in Mexico. After her daughters were grown and married, Esther began a new career. She became a demo agent. She loved being in public, giving out samples and making friends with store employees and customers alike.
Esther was very close to both of her son-in-laws. She loved to hear of Bruce’s (married to Valerie) travels as an airline pilot and always enjoyed Darrell’s (married to Cherrelyn) good nature and positive outlook on life. In the 1980’s, she became a devoted grandmother of four grandsons. In turn, she became the “grandmother-in-law” to their four beautiful wives. She was the great-grandmother of three great-grandsons (and a fourth due in April) and three great-granddaughters. She was lovingly known to all of them as “Bamba”.
Esther Marie (Burg) Isaacson passed away on, Monday, November 11, 2019. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Maurie, and her four brothers, Kenneth (Ken), Warren, Richard (Dick), and Theodore (Ted). She is survived by her beloved daughters and their families. Esther was a one-of-a kind devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was deeply loved and will always be missed.
