Obituary for Grace Elizabeth Oletski
Grace E. Oletski was born to Tomas and Irene Sanchez, in Denver, Colorado on May 4, 1950.
Grace lived in Denver all her life. She went to Sacred Heart Grade School and went on to Annunciation High School. She continued her education at Metro State College with a degree in English.
Grace married Michael Oletski on August 7, 1971, and had two children, her son Lawrence T. Oletski and daughter Andrea I. Oletski. Grace and Mike purchased a home in southwest Denver and raised their children there. Grace was a great cook, she would bake, make tamales, soups, cinnamon rolls, pies, she could do it all.
In 1979 Grace found her life’s work with the U. S. Government, Department of Defense. She worked there for 31 years. She loved the work and enjoyed the people she worked with. She moved up to a position in the government where she had the opportunity to travel for audits. She found a love of travel and traveled as much as she could. Grace fell in love with Alaska. It is believed that Grace “volunteered” to conduct any audit for any company that happened to have a US Government contract in the state of Alaska. Grace retired from the Department of Defense at age 60 on July 3, 2010.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband Mike, who lost his fight with cancer in 2012.
Grace loved to talk with her friends, she lunched with her co-workers, and she cherished her pet dog, Snickers. Grace did some traveling with friends and family after retiring, going to Alaska again as well as the Hawaiian Islands twice.
Grace was an avid Colorado Avalanche fan, having attended many games over the years. Added to this love of hockey was the fact her two grandchildren, Olivia, and Owen, are both hockey players (Goalies!) and enjoyed watching them play even more.
Grace loved the sun. One of her pure joys was sitting in the sun, reading novels. Her second love was reading. Grace could be found with her nose in a book whenever you went to her home. Bargain hunting was also a passion.
Grace suffered a major stroke on April 1, 2021. She was cared for at home by family and friends.
Grace died peacefully on March 13, 2022, at age 71. She is survived by her children, Lawrence (Rachel) Oletski and Andrea Oletski. She has two beautiful grandchildren Olivia and Owen Oletski. Grace has three sisters Maria Babcock, Irene Sanchez, and Kathy Morse. There are five nieces and nephews Krystyna Aya (Edwin), Rita Narayan, Frank Babcock (Michelle), Lindsey Oster (Kevin) and Ryan Morse (Samantha). Four great nieces and nephews, Zachary Aya (Breigh) and Jozshua Aya, Sonny Oster and Sequoia Oster.
Grace will be missed by those who loved her.
