Obituary for James R. Patterson
James “Jim” Robert Patterson, age 64 of Strasburg, Colorado, passed away in Aurora, Colorado on September 4, 2021.

James was born in Bayshore, New York on May 3, 1957 to Francis Robert Patterson and Elizabeth (Betty) Denise Patterson. In 1970, the family moved west and settled in Strasburg, Colorado.

From a young age, Jim had a passion for tinkering with electrical and mechanical components. All who knew him would say that he was an anomaly. At 13, Jim rebuilt his first car engine by himself, which kicked off his lifelong love of car collection and restoration. Jim was truly gifted in the art of Mopar restorations and well renowned for his work.

In 1975, Jim entered the United States Navy, where he served as part of the catapult and arresting gear crew on the USS Oriskany and catapult captain on the USS Ranger. Jim loved his time in the Navy as part of the flight deck crew. He was able to explore and travel to many countries and naval ports. Jim’s love and dedication for his country was unwavering.

After his service in the Navy, Jim met and married Nancy Ann Bindel on August 28th, 1983; they were married 38 years.

Jim had many careers throughout his life. From working on experimental electro magnetic hovercrafts to building drilling rigs, working on mining equipment, medical equipment, restoring and selling muscle cars and finally found his calling in computerized packaging equipment, where he gained many loyal customers and lifelong friends.

Although Jim had many personal accolades throughout his life, he would say that his greatest accomplishments were his two children, whom he loved unconditionally.

Jim is survived by his wife Nancy; his son Jimmy (Eliza) of Strasburg; his daughter Anett (Tanner) of Strasburg; his grandson James; and his 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Jim was a helpful and loving man, who prioritized his relationships with his family and friends. All who know and love Jim, will miss him deeply.
