Obituary for John Dean Hale
John Dean Hale, age 87, of Colorado Springs, CO, passed away in Colorado Springs, on November 18, 2016. He has resided there since 2009.

John was born in St. Johnsbury, VT, on May 28, 1929, son to the late Orvis Dean and Jennie Elizabeth (Cassidy) Hale. He was raised and educated in St. Johnsbury and went on to the University of Vermont graduating in 1951. He then served in the USAF from 1951-53 finishing as a First Lieutenant in the USAF Reserves. John worked for Ebasco Services as a construction engineer on the Littleton Dam from 1954-55 and then for Fairbanks Scale CO. as a mechanical design engineer from 1955-1990 when he retired. During his career at Fairbanks, several of the designs that he developed were patented. In 1997 he married the former Jeannene Blocklinger, widow of James Blocklinger, of Geneseo, IL and acquired an extended family of four stepdaughters and their families. He enjoyed woodworking, model ship-making, reading, TV, gardening, travel, country living, sunsets over Harvey’s Lake and walks with Jeannene.

He is survived by his wife: Jeannene Blocklinger-Hale of Colorado Springs, his step-daughters: Jan (Kenny) Summers of Wauchula, FL, June (Greg) Albright of North Hartland, VT, Julie (Robert) Franck of Cambridge, IL, Jeannie (Nolan) Behr of Colorado Springs, his sister-in-law: Jeanne Hale of St. Johnsbury, Nieces: JoAnn Connor of San Marcos, TX, Debra Connor of Vero Beach, FL, nephews: John M. Hale of St. Johnsbury, Gary Hale of W. Burke, VT, and James Hale of St. Johnsbury.

He was predeceased by his sister: Julia Eleanor Roy and a brother: Richard M. Hale, nephews: Steve Hale and David D. Hale

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1PM on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at St. John’s Catholic Church in St. Johnsbury. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery with reception to follow at St. Johns.

Friends may call on the family from 11:30AM- 12:30 PM at the Sayles Funeral Home on Summer Street prior to the Funeral Mass on Wednesday.
