John Joseph Soukup, 83, of Morrison, Colorado, quietly passed away at his home on September 8, 2022. John was predeceased by his parents, John Charles Soukup and Elsie Soukup, his sister Karen Soukup, and wife Linda Satterfield. He is survived by his three children John Carl Soukup and his wife Tracy Soukup, Jim Soukup and his wife Tricia Soukup, Julie Soukup Dillon, their mother Marion Lunde Soukup, and five grandchildren Kyle Soukup, Charlie Dillon, Ian Soukup, Angela Dillon and Graham Soukup.
John was born in Berwyn, Illinois and grew-up in Cicero, a suburb of Chicago. John graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois with a Master’s degree in music. John’s professional career started as the music director of the Hinsdale School District (a western suburb of Chicago) where he met his first wife, Marion Lunde Soukup. John shifted careers, eventually owning a seat on the Chicago Board of Trade where he was a floor broker in the Soybean Oil trading pit.
John married Linda Satterfield in 1975. During their forty-seven years of marriage, John and Linda resided in Illinois (Chicago & Hinsdale), Texas (Canadian, Dallas & Hamilton), and Colorado (Morrison).
John fully embraced life along with his wife Linda including ranching, founding a financial trading club, competitive sailing, and building client businesses at various financial institutions. John had many unique talents, including the ability to fix just about anything wherever he was. His gentle demeanor and humor will be greatly missed.
Services will be held on October 29, 2022, at 1:00 PM MDT at Waterstone Community Church, 5890 S. Alkire Street, Littleton, CO 80127. Livestream of the service will be available.
