Obituary for Kelley Anne Contreras
Kelley, age 59 of Aurora.
On Wednesday night, January 22nd, 2020, Kelley Contreras passed away at the age of 59. She was the loving wife of Edward Contreras and caring mom to Sarah, Tessa, Josiah, and Isaac Contreras. Family members who preceded her in death are her parents, Wilson and Lee Vosler, and her brother, Jeff Vosler. She was born in Denver, Colorado on December 19th, 1960 to Wilson and Lee Vosler and spent her childhood in Littleton, Colorado with Jeff and Rae. Kelley attended Arapahoe High School where she explored her love of music and singing in theater and choir. She graduated from Metropolitan State College of Denver with a degree in Music Education. Ed and Kelley met at St. Thomas More Catholic church in the guitar group that played for the 8:45 mass. It was fate that they were brought together through music and at the place where our family would make our home and Kelley would carry out her calling. Kelley and Ed were married only a few months after they began dating on April 28th, 1984 and have had four children since then ranging in ages 30 to 13.
Her passion was love through music. She ministered to hundreds of teens over the years who joined the youth choir and youth group at St. Thomas More, many of whom became close friends as they graduated. But her mission was not limited to St. Thomas More. She worked or volunteered at several organizations during her lifetime including, Teens Encounter Christ, Swallow Hill Music School, the Fabretto Foundation, CRL Associates, Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Discovery Toys, Uber and Lyft, Silpada, Mustard Seed Communities, Cezar Chavez Academy and LifeVantage. She always poured her heart into everything she did, and strove to spread love everywhere she went.
Our grandparents were right to give her the name Kelley meaning Warrior, for she truly fought for what she believed in. She was passionate about our Earth, and the people of this Earth, especially its children and fought for them. Our mom sent us to the Rocky Mountain School of Expeditionary Learning, a school that would teach us the value of community, compassion, integrity, discipline, courage and responsibility. She passed on her love of music and service to all of us and never ceased to support and encourage us on all of our endeavors. She traveled the world in pilgrimage on World Youth Day in several countries, and in service to children of Nicaragua and disabled orphans of Jamaica. Kelley took Jesus’ call to love one another very seriously and saw every human being as a child of God and worthy of dignity and love.
Our hope is that Kelley’s legacy lives on through each person that she touched, through the love in their actions and the kindness of their words. She is greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Mustard Seed Communities, an organization that was very near and dear to Kelley. DETAILS CAN BE FOUND BELOW UNDER MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTION BANNER.
