Obituary for Linda L. Franklin
Linda Lee Franklin, age 71, passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 in Littleton, Colorado after a seven-year battle with metastatic breast cancer. She was surrounded in love by her husband and children during the final fourteen days of in-home hospice care.
Linda was born on June 4, 1947 in Milwaukee Wisconsin to John Kastner and Eleanor (Wiedenhoft) Kastner who preceded her in death. Linda was survived by one brother, John Kastner, who resides in Wisconsin.
She had two children, Anthony J. Montesanti and Gina M. Montesanti, from her first marriage that brought her to Colorado in 1978. She married the love of her life, Tommy Franklin, on June 4, 1983. Her son from that marriage, Captain Keenan M. Franklin, was home from his army duties in South Korea to be part of her care team.
Linda’s three granddaughters are Jamie N. Montesanti, Gabrielle M. Montesanti and Sophie M. Montesanti. We would be remiss if we left out her “grand-doggers,” Talula and Jazzie, who provided Linda endless love over the years and cuddled with her until the end.
She and Tommy retired in their fifties from US West. At this time, Linda started a second career as a seamstress after attending Emily Griffith Technical College. She created custom drapery in her basement workshop under her business Sew Far Sew Good.
Linda approached life with optimism and humor, with a smile and a hug for those who were lucky enough to be part of her circle.
Special thanks to Dr. Ling Ma and Linda’s staff at Rocky Mountain Cancer Center for the extraordinary care they provided for so many years.
