Obituary for Marilyn J. Root
Root, Marilyn, age 91 of Centennial, Colorado.
Marilyn Root passed away in the evening of August 6, 2017. She lived to be 91 years old. Marilyn was a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Friend. She loved animals and she loved the great swing music of the 40s. Her happiest times were dancing to Glenn Miller and other Big Bands in Elitch’s Trocadero Ballroom. She was a kind and gentle soul with a fabulous sense of humor, any time you saw Marilyn, she was sure to have a smile.
Marilyn was born in Denver, Colorado on November 10, 1925 to Benjamin and Sally Day. She was the youngest of 5 children. Marilyn lived in the Denver area almost her entire life, however there was that one year or two in Palm Springs, CA, otherwise she remained a proud Denver girl, always sharp and very charming. To the very end Marilyn could help you find any street and tell you its hundred block in Denver. There was no need for Mapquest when you had Marilyn Root at your helm.
She married Richard Wayne Root in 1953 and had three children, Debra, Douglas and Andrea. She continues to be loved by her children, her niece and nephew, Mike and Cathy, her grandchildren Taylor and Courtney and her fur babies Riley and Dudley, and several other family and friends.
Marilyn’s dedication to her work was something she was very proud of. She worked as a homemaker until 1980, when she began working in the Human Services field. She worked for Human Services Consultants of Denver for 23 Years. She thoroughly enjoyed the work and was proud to work all the way to 91 years old. She was a force of Nature!
We will celebrate on Saturday August 26, 2017 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at the Village of Four Lakes, 2150 E Otero Circle, Centennial CO 80122. Please bring a candle in remembrance of Marilyn’s life and continue her light.
