Obituary for Mary Lorna Stelter
Mary Lorna (“Lorna”) Collins, daughter and fifth child to Robert and Rebecca (Adler) Collins, was born November, 29, 1927, in Lakota, ND. She received an education and graduated from Washburn High School in Minneapolis, MN, in 1946.
Lorna was united in marriage to her long-time childhood friend James (“Jim”) Stelter on October 28, 1950 in Minneapolis, MN. While Jim worked as a pilot for Frontier Airlines, Lorna devoted her life to raising their five children, as well as maintaining a healthy and happy home. Jim and Lorna spent many joyous years together traveling and experiencing the great outdoors of the United States in their camping trailer and houseboat. They also adventured internationally on various cruise ships. Jim and Lorna both shared a deep love for dogs and warmly welcomed many memorable furry family members into their home throughout the years. One of Lorna’s favorite family traditions was hosting an annual Christmas Eve celebration for her loved ones.
Lorna was a devout parishioner of St. Frances Cabrini Parish for 40 years. She served her church and her community in several charitable capacities throughout the years, including participating in the Rosary Makers. Her favorite mass to attend was the 11:15 am on Sunday mornings.
Lorna will be dearly missed by her children Tom (Kim) Stelter, Paducah, KY; David “Scott” (Melanie) Stelter, Littleton, CO; Brad (Mirela) Stelter, Bucharest, Romania; Nancy (Dean) Miller, Littleton, CO; and Debbie (Mike) Crawley, Elizabeth, CO. As her pride and joy, Lorna leaves her five children, 18 grandchildren, and six (soon to be seven) great grandchildren. She also still has a large extended family living in the Minneapolis, MN, area.
Lorna was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, and her husband Jim.
Lorna was truly loved by all who knew her. She will be forever remembered for her commitment to her faith, her amity toward her community, and her undying love for her family.
A Catholic Funeral Mass with be held to celebrate Lorna’s life at St. Frances Cabrini Parish in Littleton, CO, on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 10:30 am.
