Obituary for Mary Jeanette Husser LaGuardia
Mary, age 73 of Littleton.
Mary Jeanette Husser LaGuardia, age 73, passed away at the Life Care Center in Littleton, Colorado on January 6, 2019 after an extended illness. Mary was born on January 15, 1945 in Decatur, Illinois the daughter of Orie Edward and Frances Jeanette Husser. She attended elementary school in Clinton, Illinois before moving to Colorado Springs in March of 1956. Mary graduated from Palmer High School in Colorado Springs in 1963.
In the fall of 1963 she enrolled at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana before transferring to Denver University where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in music education in June of 1968.
Mary began her teaching career in the Denver public schools in January of 1987. During her career she completed two graduate programs; a Master's Degree in Education and a public school administrator's licensure certificate. Mary worked in the Denver public schools for 20+ years, retiring in 2011.
She was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter FK in Denver. She was an enthusiastic reader and a member of her neighborhood book club. She loved playing golf and was an avid football fan. She especially liked traveling and planning new adventures. She had a gift of generosity and spent many hours knitting and crocheting afghans and scarves for gifts.
She was a wonderful mother and is survived by her three sons: Christopher Michael Edward (Lexi) LaGuardia of San Jose, CA, Eric Anthony (Stacey) LaGuardia of San Diego, CA, and Vincent Joseph LaGuardia of Denver, CO. She also leaves two precious grandsons, Anthony Michael and Brendan Vincent LaGuardia of San Jose, CA.
In addition, she is survived by one sister, Connie Husser Williams (Larry) of Colorado Springs (Todd, Sarah, and Blake), one aunt, Mary Margaret Birkey of Wyanet, IL, and a host of grand nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by both parents.
A Celebration of Life, will be held at the Life Care Center of Littleton on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 2:30 p.m.
Inurnment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs, CO at a later date.
