Obituary for Patrick Evan Browne
Patrick Evan Browne passed away at age 38 on March 5, 2021 at the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center with his devoted wife, Rachel, by his side. Patrick was born on November 30, 1982 in Denver, CO and had been a resident of the Denver area the last 16 years.

Patrick was a husband, friend, son, brother, cousin, nephew and son-in-law. He was a classic rock and hip hop music lover, keen golfer, supreme puzzle solver, lover of Lego, avid Denver Broncos fan, world traveler and dedicated devourer of his wife Rachel’s home cooked meals. His house and arms were always open to newcomers; he thrived on ensuring others were having a good time. His sense of humor was a source of light and laughter for many who got to know him (“That’s what she said” anyone??).

Patrick is survived by his wife Rachel Fox Browne; his mother Judy O'Connor; his step-father Dennis O'Connor; his siblings Jackie Browne, Seamus O'Connor, Quinton O'Connor, Jennifer Smith; James Browne; and countless other friends and family as well as his two beloved pets Boss and Baci. Patrick's father, Henry Allen Browne, preceded him in death.

After high school graduation, Patrick pursued his goal of serving our country and enlisted in the U.S. Army in July 2001. During his enlistment, Patrick was stationed in South Korea where he supervised the radio communication team at Camp Carroll. He was also deployed during the first wave of Operation Iraqi Freedom to Fallujah and Ramadi, where he served as the Network Switching Systems Operator Team Chief for his battalion. One of his favorite sayings from the military was, “Commo, you can talk about us, but you can’t talk without us!”.

After Patrick was honorably discharged from the Army in July 2005, he returned to Denver and decided that he needed to invest in his future. In 2006, he enrolled in the Community College of Denver where he earned his Associate's Degree. He continued on in his studies at the University of Colorado Denver where he graduated in 2010 with his BSBA with an emphasis in Management and Human Resources. After his college graduation, Patrick worked in Human Resources as well as working with disabled Veterans with the State of Colorado, but found his true calling when he returned to University of Colorado Denver in the office of Veteran and Military Student Services, where he spent the next ten years pursuing his true passion; serving veterans and their families.

Patrick was a natural leader who was devoted to ensuring the success of military-connected students in his several roles at the University - as a Program Manager and later as the Director of the Office of Veteran and Military Student Services. In December 2018, Patrick graduated from the University of Colorado Denver with a Master’s Degree in Administrative Leadership and Policy Studies which he applied daily as a true advocate and supporter for Veterans discharging from the military and making the transition into civilian life. Whether it was answering student questions regarding their Veteran education benefits or coming to support a Veteran in the midst of a personal crisis, Patrick was always there for them completely, and his memory will live on in this legacy.

On June 13, 2016, Patrick married the love of his life, Rachel, in Nathrop, Colorado in front of their families and friends. When not working, Patrick and Rachel enjoyed traveling the world, trying new restaurants, spending time with friends and family, watching movies, working on home renovation projects and hanging out with their dog Boss and cat Baci.

Patrick's family will hold a private committal ceremony with military honors at Fort Logan Cemetery in Denver, Colorado on May 21, 2021. His life will be celebrated with family and friends at a later date to be determined.

Patrick’s devotion to his wife, his country, and selflessness for everyone he met, is remembered every day by his friends and family. His laughter will live on in our hearts forever, as well as his honesty, loyalty, and caring nature. Patrick was a bright light to so many and it is evident how many lives he touched during his time here on earth. Thank you to everyone who has reached out, provided meals or company, sent prayers and love. Our pain is immeasurable, but we find comfort in all of your kind words and actions.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a memorial gift to honor the legacy of Patrick. Donations to this fund will help establish a scholarship in Patrick's name that will support veteran students on the University of Colorado Denver campus where Patrick worked and attended college and graduate school.
