Obituary for Sandra L. Papuga
Sandy Papuga passed away on May 10, 2015 at her home in Colorado Springs, Colorado at age 66 following a courageous three-year struggle with metastatic lung cancer.
Sandy was born on September 1,1948 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania and graduated from East Conemaugh High School where she was a cheerleader for all varsity sports. In April of 1970 she married John Papuga, her high school sweetheart. Sandy and John relocated to Colorado Springs from Dayton, Ohio in the spring of 1988. She was a twenty-five year employee of Colorado College where she was an Office Coordinator in the History Department.
Sandy was a devoted Mother, Nana and great friend to many people. Sandy is survived by her husband John, her daughter Angela who resides in Valley Village, California with partner Shelly Nelson, her son Jeremy and wife Shirley with grandson Cash Roman who reside in Tucson, Arizona, her sister Barbara (Evanego) and husband Jim Niepoky, her Godson Brian Niepoky and wife Renee and their three children Katy, Emma and Ben, her sister-in-law Mary (Papuga) and husband Walter Gerber, her sister-in-law Ann (Papuga)and husband Joe Drzal, her sister-in-law Kay (Papuga) and husband Phil Albert, along with many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother Julia (Ewanick) Evanego and father John Evanego.
