Obituary for WC Swadley
W.C. "Dub" Swadley passed away September 22,2019. He was born September 14, 1930 in Grand Prairie, Texas to Carl and Willie Swadley. His son, Steven, preceded him in death as did his sisters, Betty Droste and Lorez Volino. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Katie House Swadley, and his daughter, Elizabeth (Trevor) Banister. Other survivors include his nephew, Ronnie Droste, and his niece, Lynette (Dana) Crouch, great nieces, Mendy, Jana, Allison and Lerin, grandchildren Andrew, Alyssa, Julia, Logan, Ann Marie and Charley.

Dub spent his early years in Grand Prairie before he left to the attend the University of Texas in Austin. There he earned a degree in chemistry and, later, a masters in geology. Immediately after graduation he went into the Navy for the last part of the Korean Conflict.

He spent his entire career working for the U.S. Geological Survey on various projects in Montana, Kentucky, and Nevada.

He had several hobbies. He loved traveling, listening to classical music and reading voraciously. He loved everything to do with wood (carving, turning, and building furniture). He loved lapidary work, but his greatest passion was model ship building.

Dub was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. His kindness and gentleness will be greatly missed.
